Ecommerce & Checkout Repair: Get Your Store Taking Orders Again

If your customers can't complete an order — the cart empties, the checkout button does nothing, a payment is declined for no clear reason, or money is taken but no order appears — we find the exact layer where the flow breaks and fix it. We trace the full path from cart to checkout to payment gateway to webhook to order creation, isolate the failing step, and repair it. We work remotely, worldwide, with no subscription, and we reply within 2 business hours.

Situations we fix every week

  • The cart empties itself between the product page and checkout, or items silently disappear when the customer changes quantity.
  • The checkout page loads but the "Place order" / "Pay" button does nothing, spins forever, or throws a blank page.
  • A payment is declined at the gateway even though the card is valid — often a mismatched currency, a failed 3-D Secure step, or bad API keys.
  • Money is charged to the customer but no order is created in the back office — a classic broken or missed webhook.
  • Orders are stuck in "pending payment" and never move to "processing", so nothing gets fulfilled.
  • Shipping, tax (VAT/GST) or coupon calculation is wrong or crashes checkout for certain countries, addresses or cart combinations.
  • Duplicate orders or double charges appear when a customer retries a checkout that looked like it had failed.
  • The store worked fine, then an update, a plugin, a theme change or a hosting migration broke checkout and the previous provider is gone.
  • Guest checkout or a specific payment method (PayPal, Apple Pay, a local wallet) fails while others work.
  • Confirmation emails, invoices or stock deductions don't fire after a successful payment.

How we diagnose a broken checkout — in order

  1. We reproduce the exact failure first: same product, same country, same payment method, same device. A checkout bug that only hits one currency, one shipping zone or one card type points straight at the layer to inspect, so we pin down when it breaks before touching anything.
  2. We follow the money end to end and locate the break: cart → checkout → gateway → webhook → order. Was the charge actually created at Stripe/PayPal? Did the gateway call back? Did your store receive and accept that callback? Each answer eliminates half the possibilities.
  3. We read the real errors instead of guessing: server and application logs, the browser console and network tab, and the gateway dashboard (declined-code, 3-D Secure result, webhook delivery attempts and their HTTP responses). Messages like "402 declined", "signature verification failed", "webhook 500", "order already exists" or a silent JavaScript error each name the culprit.
  4. We test the payment path in the gateway's sandbox with test cards — success, decline, and 3-D Secure challenge — and replay failed webhooks to confirm the store now creates the order correctly, without charging real customers.
  5. We check the surrounding modules that quietly break checkout: shipping rules, tax/VAT configuration, coupon logic, stock and inventory hooks, and any recent plugin/theme/extension or API-version change that lines up with the day it started failing.
  6. We fix at the layer that's actually responsible — front-end script, checkout config, gateway keys/settings, webhook endpoint, or order-creation code — then re-run the full purchase, confirm the order, email, stock and payout all land, and tell you plainly what broke and how to keep it from recurring.

Don't see your platform or gateway here? This isn't a compatibility checklist. HelpApp Pro isn't tied to any one stack — we step into the system you already have, find the layer where checkout is failing, and fix it. Tell us the symptom and your environment (platform, payment provider, hosting) and we'll confirm quickly whether we can take it on.

Frequently asked questions

The customer was charged but no order shows up — what happened?

Almost always a webhook problem. The payment succeeded at the gateway, but the callback that tells your store to create the order never arrived or was rejected. We check the gateway's webhook delivery log, fix the endpoint or its signature/verification, and replay the missed events so the order is created — without charging anyone again.

Why is a valid card being declined at checkout?

A decline can come from the bank, but a store-side decline is usually a configuration issue: wrong or test/live-mismatched API keys, an unsupported currency, a failed 3-D Secure step, or a fraud rule set too tight. We read the exact decline code in the gateway dashboard, which tells us which of these it is, and correct it.

Can you fix the checkout without taking my store offline?

In most cases, yes. We diagnose against logs, the gateway dashboard and a sandbox, and where a change is risky we stage and test it before it touches live checkout. If any brief interruption is unavoidable, we schedule it and tell you in advance.

Do I need a monthly contract or subscription?

No. There's no subscription. We bill in 30-minute increments for the time the fix actually takes, so a broken checkout doesn't turn into an ongoing commitment. You get a clear picture of scope before we start.

My previous developer or host is gone and checkout broke after an update — can you still help?

Yes, this is one of the situations we handle most. We don't need the original team; we read the running system, the logs and the payment history directly. Our background in hosting support means we're used to walking into an application nobody else understands anymore and getting it working again.

How fast can you look at it, and do you work with stores outside my country?

We reply within 2 business hours and work remotely, worldwide. Time zone and platform aren't a barrier — we just need access to the store, the hosting or the payment gateway to start tracing the failure.

Tell us what's happening at checkout and what you're running. We'll confirm we can take it on, trace the failing layer, and get your store accepting orders again — humans first, AI only to move faster.
